Do I need a reservation to skydive?

Reservations are not required but they are highly recommended. Scheduled students take priority over walk-ins. Walk-on's and same day reservations are always welcome; please ask about the estimated wait time when you register. To make a reservation we require a $50 deposit per person. You may cancel or change a reservation up to 48 hours before a scheduled appointment without losing your deposit. Your deposit will be refunded.

How big of a group can you accommodate?

We accommodate groups of up to 50+ people! For large groups (10 or more jumpers) please call at least 2 weeks ahead of time to hold your spots in class.

Do you have group rates?

Yes, see our pricing section for IAD Course and Tandem group rates.

How long in advance should I schedule my skydive?

We recommend scheduling about 2 to 3 days in advance, for 3 or more people 1 to 2 weeks, but call 1-800-566-JUMP for availability. We may have openings for you to jump today!

What is your refund policy?

There are no refunds for any reason. However, all deposits and payments are good for 2 years and are transferable.

What is your cancellation policy?

We ask that you give us at least one week to cancel or change a reservation. Canceling or rescheduling less than one week before your class date will result in a $35 administrative fee. Please understand that our instructors have been scheduled to accommodate your reservation.

What methods of payment do you accept?

Cash and cheques. Cheques will be accepted for deposits only providing they are received 10 days in advance of your skydive.

What if the weather is bad the day of my jump?

Ground training occurs regardless of weather, although for safety reasons, we cannot jump in the rain, if the clouds are too low or if the winds are too high. For any type of jump your instructor must be able to see the landing area from the plane before starting your skydive. We recommend you call the office the day of your skydive appointment if you have any doubts or questions about the weather. Remember that the weather in Moncton might be different from what you're experiencing at your home. The weather can change throughout the day. It is not unusual for it to be cloudy and possibly raining in the morning, then turn into perfect skydiving weather in the afternoon. Winds also tend to become lighter in late afternoon, and especially in the evening, making for a spectacular jumping experience if you're willing to be patient! If the weather doesn't clear up and your jump is cancelled for that day, we will give you a rain check so you can return at any time until the end of the following season and we'll get you up there - after a refresher, of course.

The weather wasn't good on the day I was supposed to make my skydive. What do I do now?

Since you have already been trained, you should have received a rain check. You can call us anytime to schedule your jump and you do not have to sign up for a class time. Just let us know when you want to come back!

What should I wear?

All you need to do is dress for the weather and wear running shoes for the jump. Loose fitting and/or non-restrictive clothing is best. No sandals, open toed shoes, cowboy boots, clogs, or shoes with hooks for laces. We provide a helmet, jumpsuit and goggles to make your skydive at no extra charge. We have special goggles to go over glasses.

Why is there a weight restriction of under 200lbs?

All of the student skydiving equipment at skydivemoncton.com has been tested by the manufacturer and rated for a recommended weight and speed at which it may be safely operated. Failure to observe these recommendations puts the first time jumper at increased risk. We want all of our First Jump students to have a fun, but safe first skydive!

How long will it take to make my first jump?

For a tandem, plan 1/2 day For a solo jump, plan 1 full day

What kind of parachute will we use?

The parachutes used are specially designed, large "ram-airs". A "ram-air" is a high-technology square parachute, as opposed to the old-style round parachutes.
return to top

What happens if the parachute doesn't open?

You'll be trained in the IAD Course to recognize any problem that might require that you cut away (disconnect) your main parachute. In the very unlikely event that the main parachute doesn't open properly, there is a reserve parachute in the top of the container which has been inspected and packed by a CSPA certificated parachute rigger. All of our reserve parachutes are equipped with reliable and modern AAD's (Automatic Activation Device) for your enhanced safety. This is a backup system only.

Isn't the landing like jumping off a two-story building?

NO! If that were the case, there would be no skydiving, because everyone would have broken legs! In the early days of sport parachuting, landings were sometimes quite hard. The new "ram-air" parachutes of today allow landings that feel equivalent to hopping off a step 1-2' high.

Will I be scared?

Maybe, and maybe not. You will definitely feel a surge of excitement and anticipation before the jump...this is a normal part of the experience. During the jump itself, you'll probably feel a thrill that you've never experienced before - enjoy it!

Is skydiving safe?

Your safety throughout the jump is our top priority. Like rock-climbing, bungee jumping or skiing, skydiving is considered to be a high risk sport. Risks are minimized by knowledge. We believe that learning and understanding the risks involved and how to deal with them with the safest possible methods minimizes the risk factor. Here at skydivemoncton.com we take safety very seriously. We are affiliated with the Canadian Sport Parachuting Association (CSPA). The CSPA has been Canadian skydivers main governing body since 1956. We are proud to support and adhere to their program of licensing and training. All of our coaches and instructors are CSPA rated and licensed. Our equipment undergoes regular maintenance and the plane we fly is closely monitored and inspected. Even with the many precautions taken, there are inherent risks in skydiving that may lead to serious injury or death. This is a risk we choose to take while participating in such an extreme sport.

But I'm afraid of heights! (technically not a question, but still...)

Even some of the best skydivers are afraid of heights (We love the sport, but we're not crazy!).However, you will find that once you actually get up in the air, the ground looks like a picture. As you gain altitude, references disappear, and your sense of the height decreases. This makes the higher altitudes easier to handle. Keep in mind too, that you'll be concentrating on your training as you climb out of the plane and on into your jump. Students find that their focus is on those procedures, and not on the height.

How many people can jump at one time? I want to jump with my friends - can we both be on the same plane?

If you are doing the IAD jump, three students go up at a time with the instructor. We cannot guarantee that any group will be able to get on the same plane but we will try our best. However, you jump one at a time. Some prefer not to be on the same load so that they can see their friends from the ground. If you are doing a Tandem Jump, you'll jump separately as you are one-on-one with your Tandem Instructor.
return to top

Can my friend and I be on the same video?

One person's freefall will be on individual video only. However, footage can usually be taken of groups or couples on the ground, in the plane and after your jump for each video.
return to top

Can I bring family/friends to watch?

Absolutely. Children are welcome as well, however, this is an airport and children must be carefully watched, and made aware of potential hazards.
return to top

Can we bring a picnic basket?

We encourage you to bring a picnic lunch or snacks. There is a Sobey's Express just across the street from us as well as a Tim Horton's.
return to top

Can I drink liquor while at the drop zone?

No!!! We adhere to the CSPA Rules and Regulations and alcoholic beverages are not permitted at any location on the drop zone by anyone while skydiving is taking place, even if you are not jumping. After the last load of the day has landed, you are welcome to enjoy any frosty beverage of your choice, providing you are over the legal drinking age.
return to top

Can we stay overnight?

Yes you can. Bring a tent or your camper; there is plenty of camping space available. Check in at the office and we will show you where to set up your tent and where the showers are located.
return to top

What do we do after the day is done?

We enjoy some of the day's videos as well as sit around the campfire. This is a time for everyone to relax and have a cold one...and talk about the most exciting thing they've ever done! We enjoy your company, so feel free to stay.
return to top

How old do I have to be to skydive?

You must be at least 19 years old, or 18 with parental consent. There are no exceptions to this requirement. We have no upper age limit. You are never too old to experience the thrill of skydiving! An 80th birthday is as good of a reason to skydive as an 18th birthday is!
return to top

Are there any restrictions that would prevent me from jumping?

We evaluate each student on an individual basis. In general, you should be in reasonably good physical shape; this is a sport after all. Problems may arise where a prospect is too heavy (over ~200lbs) or if they have medical conditions that may impair them during the activity. Very few people have medical or physical conditions which actually preclude jumping. If you have a question, ask your doctor. You may be surprised at the relatively few physical constraints involved.
